2019 Toyota RAV4 review, A lovable SUV
THE GOOD: The 2019 Toyota RAV4 looks unique and the interior is packaged very well.
THE BAD: The powertrain is coarse and in need of modernization.
THE BOTTOM LINE: If you don’t mind the old-feeling bits underneath, the RAV4 won’t let you down.
History of the Toyota RAV4. It was part of the first small SUV segment, which finally grew to become one of the most desirable groups of vehicles in the car industry. However, the first interesting crossover looked and felt as exciting as an annual physical when its fourth generation arrived in 2012.
The new window is opening in Toyota RAV4. Has a powerful reputation as a practical SUV compact and with the redesign in 2019 this reputation is strengthened. The whole new 2019 model takes everything of the earlier RAV4 we liked and improved it with a fresh look, fresh characteristics, more energy, and better fuel saving.
The practicality of many tiny SUV buyers could be a significant buying factor, but that does not mean a vehicle must not be without any exciting features. One look at the fresh design of the 2019 RAV4 is just how much fun is also possible.
The smooth corners of the fourth-generation RAV4 were thrown away for harsh falls, giving it its most exciting look in more than a century. I’m a fan of straightness around the wheel wells in particular. It also provides more personality to the heavy body covering.
What’s the interior and in-car technology like?
The inside is equally attractive but doesn’t affect its primary directive negative: function. The dashboard uses layering to hide the driver and passenger of a couple of very helpful cubbies–slatted in a light orange color on my adventure trim tester. Towels a big enough cubby under the middle of the armrest and you can place your whole junk in the additional storage region in front of the shift (or a wireless loader for my test vehicle).
Internal and finishing materials are great for the compact crossover class of RAV4, and much better than previous car variants. Genuine leather can not be supplied and SofTex vinyl is not a compelling replacement for up-level designs. Frankly, the RAV4 is never the luxury atmosphere that can be achieved by Honda CR-V or MazdaCX-5. Nevertheless, in some cuts, we like colorful trimmings, whereas there are plenty of niceties, such as ventilated front seats, heated backseats, a scenic sunrise and soft-touch materials for the dash and doors.
The automatic eight-speed transmission is also of no benefit. When the vehicle is up to velocity, it swaps smoothly, but there are several cases at low velocity when it ties down quite loudly as it moves up and down. This is most obvious in the case of a stop-and-go route when I have to accelerate to around 5 miles per hour before I stop. Giving the transmission a little more time to create a choice helps, but I think that in this case, the eight speeds lack the polish of other automakers ‘ comparable transmissions.
The RAV4’s front-wheel drive is Standard, but my Adventure trim packs a full wheel drive system with a torque vector and a back axle that can be disconnected from the front to improve fuel efficiency. The EPA calculates that my tester thrift can be about 23 mpg in the town and about 33 mpg on my regional highway, a number that is optimistic but not insurmountable.
Is The 2019 Toyota RAV4 LE, Safe?
Safety is primarily with Toyota, and in all their cars it has been proved. The Meadville citizens will appreciate the addition to all RAV4 models of normal safety characteristics. The safety of drivers and passengers is ensured by a number of airbags and forward collision detection. The conventional equipment includes automated lamps that switch between low and high beams when required. There are also traction controls and stability controls as well as disk brakes.
Of course, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard at every trim level and involves pedestrian detection, alert and assistance for lane departure, road border detection and street sign support.
As part of a $1,265 tech package, my tester is complementing several more safety technologies including blind-spot surveillance and automatic rear braking parking sensors, the late one giving me a little more trust during parallel maneuvers.
The package also involves a smart mirror for the backup that substitutes the traditional perspective with a digital camera screen. I’ve never loaded the RAV4 enough, but it’s still a helpful technology for people who carry a bunch of things on a regular basis.
A 7-inch color display in the measuring cluster provides an info-screen wrapped digital speedometer that provides me fuel savings and other appropriate data at a glance. Also from the dashboard is an8-inch infotainment show. The Entune 3.0 system is more capable than in previous releases, but still has the same ancient design, which seems to be somewhat unusual in 2019.
This being said, the reaction is extensive and I enjoy the physical buttons between audio, navigation and telephone screens on either side of the screen. The bulb lacks stopping things, however, so I am cranking the volume accidentally well past the desired level in both cases.
Apple CarPlay is a good addition, but Entune does not yet have support for Android Auto. But it would not be the case for a long time since some 2020 models have been added by Toyota. Additional connectivity features include a wireless Internet hotspot and the Amazon Alexa integration, which is useful for dogs if you have forgotten to use some lamps.
A standalone app download for integration into the automotive app is needed, but fortunately. the app store is free. Embedded navigation and an enjoyable JBL 11-speaker audio system are all components of an upgrade of $1,620.
Finding a rounded vehicle implies generally sacrificing a few things. While a sophisticated powertrain and top-class noise reduction or cargo space might not be available for the Toyota RAV4 2019, it is still an eminently capable, tiny crossover that can move a lot without making the driver feel bored, tired, or angry.
The new SUV platform offers a whole fresh life in a sinking or swimming section. Even individuals with RAV4s in their garage will enjoy the convincing nature of the fifth-generation model.

Residents of West Vernon and Geneva would like to learn about the latest RAV4 drive train alternatives. Packages LE and XLE upgrade the FWD system to the standard AWD. The Adventure and Limited utilizes a torque vectoring scheme, which can unplug the spinning wheel and add extra energy to tractors.

It is difficult to say that this is a model base with all the normal functions. The Alexa commands and Apple vehicle play are included in a 7-inch touch screen. The normal package includes also 17-inch steel wheels and cloth seats. Further characteristics include multi-light and backlights, energy outside folding mirrors, black ceiling rails, privacy glass, and a built-in backup camera. $25,500 to start MSRP.
2019 Toyota RAV4 XLE
The XLE brings a number of more normal characteristics, including back air vents, which are new for 2019. West Vernon also offers standard facilities for heated exterior mirrors, double-zone air conditioning, energy tilt-slide moon roofing, and upgraded silver-alloy spoke wheels. There is also an energy lift door and heated front seats. It’s $27,300 to start MSRP.
2019 Toyota RAV4 XLE Premium
The Premium XLE is upgraded to chrome-finished 19-inch alloy wheels. The SofTex trimmed leather sitting and the 8-way, lumbar support, 4-way adjustable passenger stand, leather-trimmed steering wheel, and soft-touch dash and brackets are provided. The energy lift door is standard, the Smart Key system starts with the push-button. MSRP is $29,500 to start up.
2019 Toyota RAV4 Adventure
The adventure is an excellent opportunity for those who reside in Geneva to travel by road. It comes with a 19-inch alloy and regular AWD matte, black-accented wheels. It also includes a distinctive split bar front grille, black RAV4, adventure grade roof rails, a7-inch Multi-information display digital speedometer, and orange-focused interior. Sand and mud are readily conquered with the multi-terrain characteristic chosen. The Adventure is suitably named with more ground clearance than the base model. It’s $32,900 to start MSRP.
2019 Toyota RAV4 Limited
This Toyota RAV4 comes with memory-equipped warmed front seats, a digital rearview mirror and a bigger8-inch multi-information screen with built-in dynamic navigation. This is also the only version of the 2019 RAV4 with puddle lights, chrome emphasized outer grips and a dark-brown, blue ambient lighting. It is $33,500 to start MSRP.
