#5 2019 Hyundai NEXO
The all-new 2019 Hyundai Nexo, appearing as if from the future, is one of only three accessible hydrogen-powered vehicles and the only one that is an SUV. The Nexo is the technological flagship of Hyundai and features comfort levels for luxury cars.
The true drawings are their zero emissions, longer range, and fast refills. Hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles, including the Toyota Mirai and Honda Clarity sedans, can be refueled in minutes like a traditional car and have greater range than all-electric vehicles like Teslas.
In about five minutes, the Nexo can be packed with hydrogen and has a variety of up to 380 miles. It’s precious to buy outright at about $60,000, though a lease begins at $399/month. The greatest obstacle is accessibility: only selected areas of California can have hydrogen vehicles.
2019 Hyundai Nexo Price
The 2019 Hyundai Nexo has a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) beginning at $58,300 for a Blue trim or $61,800 for the Limited model, before the $1,045 target fee. These rates are also ahead of incentives like the $5,000 state rebate in California. That beginning price corresponds almost directly to the Toyota Mirai’s price.
The Honda Clarity fuel cell, the only other hydrogen-powered car, is lease-only. If you choose to rent the Nexo, it’s $399 a month for the Blue model or $449 for a Limited Trim, both for periods of 36 months. The lease for Mirai begins at $349/month, while the fuel cell for Clarity is $369/month. Our analysts have not yet estimated their resale value, as the Hyundai Nexo is an all-new car.
